In 2021, 84,000 people live with HIV in Chile, and the annual new infection rates have been rising, despite substantial investments in therapy. This worrisome situation stems partly from insufficient investment in prevention strategies. In the last decade, new HIV cases surged by 133% among young people aged. This misdirected policy has exposed to people to the HIV, necessitating lifelong antiretroviral treatment. To combat the epidemic effectively, a global effort is needed to achieve early diagnosis, universal treatment, viral suppression, patient retention in care. Meeting these objectives is crucial to reach the 95/95/95 target by 2030, the goal to end HIV as a global public health threat.
