The prediction and evaluation of overbreak (OV) and stability of open stopes in selective underground mining have been one of the major challenges faced by the mining industry globally. Various authors have proposed methodologies and changes in measurement parameters to improve the characterization of stope stability without altering the type of classificatory analysis. This work aims to develop a new predictive tool for the stability of open stopes considering spatial geomechanical variability. Three stages were developed: 1. Generation of programming codes, calculating OV and the effective radius factor (ERF) for points on the stope wall (roof). 2. Determination and acquisition of geotechnical parameters. 3. Application to real cases. Among the main results, it is observed from the graphical relationship obtained between ERF and the stability number N': for N < 7, 18,190 stable blocks (SB) out of a total of 22,188 in the area; for N ≥ 7, 642 BE out of a total of 1,086 in the area; for N ≥ 7 and ERF < 8, 511 SB out of 924 blocks in total for the area; for N ≥ 7 and ERF ≥ 8, 131 SB out of 162 in total for the area, reinforcing the significant influence of ERF and N. Finally, regarding the applicability of the generated tool, it is observed that it could be mostly applicable. Unlike current methodologies, the approach of this methodology is distinguished by the evaluation of specific and concrete overbreak values. This allows for a more precise evaluation of stope opening stability, considering the Geomechanical behavior of each sector within the evaluated stope wall area, incorporating any changes to its initial geometry. Moreover, this tool considers real geometries in which the wall is being evaluated, allowing application in complex geometries, not necessarily strictly square or simple, as currently done by existing methods. To improve and/or strengthen the developed methodology, it is recommended: to increase the number of real cases applying the methodology developed here, to incorporate stress condition parameters A, and to include in the analysis the integration of a deep stress model....
