Significado de la "enzeñanza a pares" comorecurso formativo de la docencia clínica
(Universidad de Chile, 2013)

Since the recognition about the preparation of teaching materials and academic residents performed before their teaching activities not only improve their teaching skills , but also their theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, comes a teaching strategy called "peer learning" in which a student takes the role of teacher and teaches one or more companions. In our Institution - Departamento de Pediatría y Cirugía – Norte de la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Chile - there is still no published studies regarding experiences with formal education and thus we believe that this educational approach could be a contribution to clinical teaching in undergraduate. On this basis, we planned and supervised learning activity pairs, VI year students who completed the internship in pediatrics and pediatric surgery medical career between August 2012 and August 2013. In this context, we found it important to know the experience of the principals involved in this training proposal as a strategy that allowed us to understand the meaning of peer learning for undergraduate clinical teaching. To address the problem a qualitative study, based on the interpretive - hermeneutic paradigm, framed in a case study was designed. The data collection instruments were twofold: 1) The researcher adopted the stance of observer - participant, gathered information through Journaling field supported by video -recordings of the activity and 2 ) semi -structured interviews with 14 students who exercised the role of peer tutor . Was carried out the reduction of data and then we realized analysis about subject-matter. The enthusiasm of the students for exercising their teaching role and a strong commitment by the result of peer learning to teach must appear in many publications. The preparation of subject-matter by students in the role of guardian stands out as significantly more intense compared to that usually perform for their other academic duties . This preparation of higher standard is supported by a learning better quality in terms of better organization and understanding of the past in the past and knowledge of meta- cognition. The great weakness of the peer learning methodology has to do with the time required to prepare teaching, as students recognize that due to the large curricular academic pressure would be impossible to carry out a systematic study of such intensity....

The south of Chile has been recognized all over the World as one of the most important areas for the conservation of biodiversity because of its high levels of endemism and pristine habitats. However, over the last decades the fjords and channels zone in the south of Chile has been subject of environmental stress due to exploitation of its natural resources, the growth of urban centers and to activities associated with tourism. Based on the identification of 9 land covers and 17 ecosystem services, which were valued by local and regional actors in the Vodudahüe basin, the potential provision of ecosystem services was recognized with the employment of Multi-criteria spatial analysis (AEMC) which appears like an effective tool in those cases where there is little information available. The results showed that in the study area the mixed forest, forest-bush transition, prairies, humid zones, water courses and sea land covers presented an important capacity to provide provision, regulation and cultural ecosystem services, in contrast to the surfaces or land covers associated to the bare rock of fluvial deposits, exposed slopes and areas with little vegetation....
