Electoral participation in Latin America is a field of extensive study, however little attention is raised how poverty and inequality, historical problems in the region, affect the moment of voting. That is why this research seeks to answer how does poverty affect electoral participation in systems with voluntary voting?, Arguing that people with higher incomes tend to vote more than those with low incomes, and as a consequence of this, unfairness A country's economy becomes a political inequality. To test this hypothesis, the cases of Chile and Colombia are taken, both with a voluntary voting system and whose average in elections borders 50% of participation. The data of the last presidential of each country and their corresponding communal poverty rates are analyzed. The methodology used to analyze them corresponds to the logit model of ecological inference of Thomsen (1987), with which it must arrive at conclusions on the individual behavior from aggregated data. To achieve this, the statistical package formulated by Park, Hammer and Biggers (2014) can be obtained. The results show that of the total number of voters, the proportion corresponding to poor suffragants was 34.14% in Chile and 29.11% for Colombia.Seen in another way, of the total of the poor population of each country, in Chile it voted 32.59% while in Colombia it did 31.92%. Both inferences reaffirm the need to reduce inequality to improve participation levels in Latin America....

Abstract Isolated, incomplete or fragmentary human skeletal remains are a significant proportion of the findings recovered in forensic contexts (Rodriguez Cuenca, 1994). Due to this, it is important to incorporate estimation methods of biological profile applicable in such conditions, which allow the sexual estimation of cranial and postcranial elements, no matter their state of preservation and completeness. The objective of this research is to develop sex estimation methods from the skull, mandible and postcranial structures, utilizing the Mean of the Sexual Dimorfism Index (IDSμ), and applying two statistical techniques: Discriminant Analysis of Fisher's Linear Function (AFD) and Binary Logistic Regression (RL), in a sample of Chilean population. A sample of 320 adult individuals were collected, 162 females and 156 males. A total of 31 cranial measurements were included (vault, base, esplacnocranium and mandible) and 50 postcranial measurements (clavicle, scapula, sternum, humerus, radius, ulna, sacrum, femur, tibia, fibula and calcareous). The results show that postcranial sexual dimorphism index (IDSμ) had a significantly higher degree than that obtained in cranial and mandibular areas (12.18% and 5.9%, respectively). The discriminant functions allowed a high precision in sex estimation. The results obtained from the cross-validation analysis in the cranium showed a precision of 76.9% to 84% in the estimation of sex, while postcranial structures from 74% to 93.3%. A moderate better fit was found in the models generated from the binary logistic regression in the cranial (77.5% - 92.2%) and postcranial (74% - 94.1%) elements. This research shows the potential of cranial and postcranial metric variables in sex prediction, becoming a step for the standardization of sex estimation models based on anthropometric parameters in the Chilean population, especially in forensic contexts related to extrajudicial executions during the military regime in Chile...
