Significados en torno al rol del psicólogo y su ambiguedad en contextos carcelarios

Abstract

Esta investigación busca conocer los significados asociados al rol de los psicólogo/as de Gendarmería de Chile que se desempeñan en establecimientos penitenciarios de Santiago. Se postula que existe una falta de definiciones claras respecto al rol de estos profesionales, junto con un doble rol, ya que deben ejercer el control social, y simultáneamente, construir un vínculo o relación terapéutica con las personas condenadas. El concepto de ambigüedad del rol y pensadores como Michael White, Marcelo Pakman, Cecchin, Lane y Ray constituyen los referentes teóricos para abordar el objetivo descrito. Metodológicamente este estudio se enmarca en una perspectiva cualitativa y utiliza el método discursivo. Se realizaron entrevistas abiertas, semi-estructuradas a cinco psicólogos de Gendarmería de Chile, y se utilizó el análisis de contenido. Los resultados revelaron que la problematización respecto a la ambigüedad del rol se encuentra presente sólo en algunos de los entrevistados. Se observó que este fenómeno afecta en menor medida la intervención realizada, y cuando la afecta, ocurre en las primeras sesiones. Además, los resultados mostraron otras dificultades asociadas al rol de estos profesionales, las relaciones que establecen entre éstas y la institución, junto con estrategias utilizadas para lidiar con las tensiones experimentadas

ABSTRACT The aim of this study is to know the meanings entrenched in the role of psychologists of Gendarmería de Chile, who work at prisons in Santiago. It is claimed that the role of these professionals is not clear, indeed, they seem to have a double role: one in charge of exerting social control of the prisoners and another one, oriented to establish a bond or therapeutic relationship with them. In order to address the goal of this work, the theoretical references considered are Michael White, Marcelo Pakman, Cecchin, Lane and Ray and the concept of ambiguity of role. The methodology of this study consists in qualitative practices and the discursive method. Semi-estructured interviews were developed with five psychologists from Gendarmería de Chile, and the content analysis was used. The results revealed that some of the interviewees have felt ambiguity in their role. In general, it was observed that this feeling did not affect so much their performance as psychologists, nevertheless, when it did, it happened during the first period of the intervention. Finally, the results highlighted other difficulties associated with the role of these professionals, as well as the relationships established between them and the institution, and the strategies developed to reduce these tensions
