Estación Padre Hurtado : estación intermodal en el recorrido de tren Melipilla-Santiago

Abstract

Es sabido que, en grandes ciudades, los medios de transporten cumplen un rol fundamental en el correcto funcionamiento de éstas. Con el crecimiento explosivo de ciudades en las últimas décadas, como en el caso particular de la ciudad de Santiago, se hace necesario abordar la movilidad y conectividad, en distintos niveles, ya que el crecimiento no es solo en cuanto a la densidad, sino que la ciudad se expande de manera radial, requiriendo transportes que puedan recorrer grandes distancias a mayores frecuencias. El transporte de interés a estudiar en el presente proyecto es el ferrocarril, el cual se analizó como medio de transporte y por otra parte se estudió la estación de tren como tipología arquitectónica, utilizando referentes tanto internacionales como nacionales, tomando en consideración elementos clave para el desarrollo del proyecto. La propuesta nace desde motivaciones personales del autor, en conjunto con el análisis del transporte que une la ciudad de Santiago con localidades más alejadas hacia el poniente, dentro de la misma región, en donde existe en la actualidad un proyecto en desarrollo, correspondiente al Melitren, un recorrido de tren desde Santiago hasta Melipilla, conectando las distintas comunas intermedias. La elección de lugar y emplazamiento se realizó en base a la comuna que mayor potencial presentaba, teniendo en consideración la población en crecimiento y la ubicación en un punto estratégico y central, donde se otorga la oportunidad de generar un nodo programático de gran valor e importancia, tanto a nivel comunal como intercomunal. El proyecto tiene como propuesta conceptual el establecer un portal intermediario entre el sector urbano del Gran Santiago y lo rural o semi rural de las comunas hacia el poniente de Santiago, además de generar una sutura entre el lado norte y sur de la línea férrea, uniendo e integrando una variedad programática de uso de suelo. Se genera un Master Plan que busca generar un gran espacio a escala comunal, que une la estación de tren, desde el centro de la ciudad, con uno de los únicos parques de calidad de la comuna, a través del borde de la faja vía. La estación corresponde a un edificio de 3 niveles, conectado a través de su tercer nivel y desde la mesanina en sus lados norte y sur, con una gran variedad programática, que surge por la necesidad y oportunidad que la misma comuna genera.

It is well known that, in large cities, means of transportation play a fundamental role in their proper functioning. With the explosive growth of cities in recent decades, as in the particular case of the city of Santiago, it is necessary to address mobility and connectivity at different levels, since growth is not only in terms of density, but the city expands radially, requiring transport that can travel long distances at higher frequencies. The transportation of interest to be studied in this project is the railroad, which was analyzed as a means of transportation and, on the other hand, the train station was studied as an architectural typology, using both international and national references, taking into consideration key elements for the development of the project. The proposal was born from personal motivations of the author, together with the analysis of the transportation that links the city of Santiago with more distant locations to the west, within the same region, where there is currently a project under development, corresponding to the “Melitren”, a train route from Santiago to Melipilla, connecting the various intermediate communes. The choice of place and location was made based on the commune with the greatest potential, taking into consideration the growing population and the location in a strategic and central point, where the opportunity to generate a programmatic node of great value and importance, both at the communal and intercommunal level, is granted. The conceptual proposal of the project is to establish an intermediary portal between the urban sector of Greater Santiago and the rural or semi-rural communes to the west of Santiago, in addition to generating a suture between the north and south side of the railway line, uniting and integrating a programmatic variety of land use. A Master Plan is generated that seeks to generate a large space on a communal scale, linking the train station, from the center of the city, with one of the only quality parks in the commune, through the edge of the railway line. The station corresponds to a 3-level building, connected through its third level and from the mezzanine on its north and south sides, with a great programmatic variety, which arises from the need and opportunity that the commune itself generates.
