Abstract
dc.description.abstract

Abstract
dc.description.abstract
This research is a theoretical and reflective approach to the practice of urban dance in public space, which provides the necessary knowledge to develop the degree project. Each chapter focuses on understanding the history and context in which this artistic expression is developed. In order to confront the problem of the invisibilized and unspecialized spaces in the city. Where the urban design of public spaces over time is the main representation of these deficiencies produced by the existing political-social-economic model.
Raising questions such as: What are the real values of this discipline for the city? How is the public space taking care of artistic expressions? And what could be the best solution to this kind of problem?
After this, it’s decided to rescue the cultural values of urban dances through some ethnography methods, including data collection applied in the support of first participant observation of the study places. This is accompanied with an online survey focused on active participants of this cultural expression.
All this is consolidated in a temporary architecture project, which is the result of the duality between dance and architecture. It focuses on generating a representative and symbolic spatiality for the dancers, through the projection of the movements made in the space, which will be displayed in different public spaces belonging to the Metropolitan Region of Chile, in order to expand the cultural expression and leave a mark in the memory of its citizens.
