Gualliguaica inmerso : museo de sitio y memoria

Abstract

Bajo las aguas del embalse Puclaro yace la historia de Gualliguaica, un pueblo completo erradicado y relocalizado en las alturas del valle norteño de Chile. En 1999 cientos de personas vieron cómo sus vidas eran sumergidas por las aguas del Río Elqui, sin embargo, cada vez que el agua baja, el pueblo vuelve a recordar su pasado. El proyecto busca rescatar la historia y el patrimonio de un lugar que sigue latente en la memoria de cada uno de sus habitantes, poniendo en valor tanto lo tangible como lo intangible. De esta manera, GUALLIGUAICA inmerso se conforma como un espacio vinculante entre el presente y el pasado, y entre el origen y el fin de un ciclo.

Under the waters of the Puclaro reservoir lies the history of Gualliguaica, an entire town eradicated and relocated to the heights of the northern valley of Chile. In 1999 hundreds of people saw how their lives were submerged by the waters of the Elqui River, however, every time the water recedes, the town remembers its past again. The project seeks to rescue the history and heritage of a place that remains latent in the memory of each of its inhabitants, valuing both the tangible and the intangible. In this way, GUALLIGUAICA inmerso is formed as a binding space between the present and the past, and between the origin and the end of a cycle.
