Puente Andalién. Referente señero del art déco penquista (Concepción, Chile)

Abstract

El Puente Andalién, emplazado en la avenida y el río homónimo, es considerado una vernácula conexión entre las ciudades de Concepción y Penco, destacándose como un elemento urbano patrimonial, en un sector que define este acceso histórico a la ciudad capital de la Región del Bío Bío. La obra de infraestructura vial, autoría del ingeniero Enrique Curti, realizada en el lenguaje Art Decó, es representativa en Chile, durante la década de 1930. Expresado en su geometrizada y sinuosa estructura en hormigón armado, con columnas de farolas a gas, tres vías de tránsito y otros elementos arquitectónicos. Actualmente, sufre un grave y progresivo deterioro, por la acción del tiempo, la intemperie y por su deficiente mantención, que lo mantienen en creciente riesgo e incierto futuro. No obstante, este puente constituye un valioso legado urbano, arquitectónico, histórico, social y de identidad cultural, que le permiten formar parte del imaginario urbano de Concepción.

The Andalién Bridge, located on the avenue and the homonymous river, it’s considered a vernacular connection between the cities of Concepción and Penco, standing out as a heritage urban element, in a sector that defines this historical access to the capital city of the Region of Bío Bío. The road infrastructure work, authored by the engineer Enrique Curti, carried out in the language of Art Deco, is representative in Chile, during the 1930’s. Expressed in its geometrized and sinuous structure in reinforced concrete, with columns of gas lampposts, three transit routes and other architectural elements. Currently, it suffers a serious and progressive deterioration, due to the action of time, weathering and its poor maintenance, which keep it at increasing risk and uncertain future. However, this bridge constitutes a valuable urban, architectural, historical, social and cultural identity legacy, which allow it to be part of the urban imaginary of Concepción.
