Funda[mental] : Hospital de Día Dr. Martín Cordero

Abstract

En el corazón del barrio Matta Sur, ocultándose entre la multitud, se alza tímido el Hospital de Día Doctor Martín Cordero. Sin embargo, entre sus paredes yacen realidades ocultas para el resto de las personas, donde la escasez de una espacialidad digna y la estigmatización han dejado una huella imborrable en aquellos que padecen de trastornos mentales en Chile. El presente documento, estará enfocado en transformar estas adversidades en oportunidades de esperanza y sanación. Cada espacio construido es un testimonio tangible de nuestra humanidad, por esto, como arquitectos debemos proponernos elevar la experiencia de las personas, sobre todo de las que buscan y requieren de sanación. Diseñando desde la empatía, dando la oportunidad de transmitir un mensaje de inclusión. Con el compromiso de superar las barreras invisibles, que como sociedad imponemos a los que salen de nuestra normatividad, se busca la realización de un proyecto arquitectónico que trascienda la funcionalidad. Cada elemento de este proyecto respira una historia de resiliencia y superación. La comunidad y la materialidad se relacionan en perfecta armonía, mientras los espacios invitan a la interacción y al encuentro, convirtiéndose en un rincón de refugio dentro de la ciudad que muchas veces es fría y hostil. La naturaleza se entrelaza con los espacios, tejiendo un vínculo entre el territorio y la comunidad que habita este lugar. La estigmatización y la exclusión, se disipan ante la calidez de la aceptación y la integración. Se aspira a trascender los límites preestablecidos para este tipo de Hospitales, abriendo paso a un futuro donde la dignidad espacial sea un derecho inalienable para todos. Este proyecto es un testimonio desde el amor y la empatía, un llamado urgente a desafiar las normas establecidas por la sociedad y emprender un viaje de transformación hacia la justicia social y la equidad.

In the heart of Matta Sur neighborhood, timidly standing amidst the crowd, lies the Doctor Martín Cordero Day Hospital. However, within its walls lie hidden realities unknown to the rest of the world, where the scarcity of dignified space and stigmatization have left an indelible mark on those suffering from mental disorders in Chile. In this document, our focus is to transform these adversities into opportunities of hope and healing. Every constructed space is a tangible testimony of our humanity, and as architects, we must strive to elevate the experiences of individuals, especially for those who are seeking and in need of healing. By designing with empathy, we aim to deliver a message of inclusion. With the commitment to overcome the invisible barriers imposed by society on those who deviate from the norm, we envision an architectural project that transcends mere functionality. Every element of this project carries a story of resilience and triumph. The community and the materials are harmoniously intertwined, while the paces invite interaction and connection, becoming a refuge within a city that often feels cold and inhospitable. Nature weaves itself into the spaces, forging a bond between the territory and the community that inhabits this place. Stigmatization dissipates in the warmth of acceptance and integration. We aspire to surpass the preconceived limits imposed on such hospitals, paving the way for a future where dignified space is an inalienable right for all. This project is a testament to love and empathy, an urgent call to challenge the norms dictated by society and embark on a journey of transformation towards social justice and equality.
