¿De qué hablamos cuando hablamos de salud mental? Repertorios interpretativos sobre salud mental de estudiantes universitarios en Chile

Abstract

El presente trabajo analiza cualitativamente los discursos de estudiantes universitarios chilenos sobre la salud mental. Considerando la trascendencia de esta noción en distintos niveles (profesional, académico, mediático y gubernamental), nos interrogamos sobre el valor práctico que adquiere en el discurso de los jóvenes. Utilizando la perspectiva de los repertorios interpretativos de Potter y Wetherell (1987), que enfatiza el carácter retórico y situado del discurso, se identificaron dos repertorios: el biológico-individual y el cultural-social. El principal efecto de estos repertorios es la constitución de una generación en torno a la salud mental.

Abstract: This work qualitatively analyzes the discourses of Chilean university students regarding mental health. Considering the significance of this concept at various levels (professional, academic, media, and governmental), we inquire about the practical value it acquires in the discourse of young people. Using the perspective of interpretative repertoires by Potter and Wetherell (1987), which emphasizes the rhetorical and situated nature of discourse, two repertoires were identified: the biological-individual and the cultural-social. The main effect of these repertoires is the constitution of a generation around mental health.
