Abstractdc.description.abstractThe crystal structure of the title phosphonium salt consists of a tetrahedral (C6Hs)P +C(C4HS)- (COOCH2CH3) cation and a Br- anion. The triphenylphosphonium group has P---C(phenyl) distances which are equal within experimental error [mean 1.802 (9),~] and is attached directly to an endocyclic tertiary C atom with a larger P--C distance of 1.857 (8) ,~. The tetrahedral CmP--C angles range from 104.9 (4) to 114.4 (4) ° . The carbonyl O atom of the ethoxycarbonyl group is located on the opposite side of the positively charged P atom.en_US
