Abstractdc.description.abstractA unique diterpene 1, was isolated from the altiplane Andean plant Azorella madreporica Clos (Apiaceae). The structure and stereochemistry were established by spectral methods and molecular mechanics calculations. The compound possesses a novel hydrocarbon skeleton for which we suggest the name madreporane. © 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
