Propuesta para el manejo de lodos producidos en las piscinas de decantación de riles de la fundición y refinería Ventanas

Abstract

La Empresa Nacional de Minería (ENAMI) en su Fundición y Refinería Ventanas ubicada en Ia V región, deposita sus Riles en dos piscinas, de tamaño de 50 m x 50 m y una profundidad de 1,5 m, comunicadas entre sí por medio de un ducto. En dichas piscinas se produce 1a decantación de los sólidos sedimentables y en suspensión, llegando a alcanzar la parte sólida la altura máxima recomendada para éstas. Los lodos producidos son el objetivo de estudio de este trabajo. En una primera etapa se lleva a cabo un análisis de los procesos involucrados en la Fundición y Refinería Ventanas, para posteriormente identificar las fuentes generadoras de los lodos. Luego se realiza un plan de muestreo para la caracterización química y física del lodo. En base a los resultados obtenidos se determina su peligrosidad, donde se clasifica a éste en listas de residuos y según el compendio de normas chilenas sobre sustancias peligrosas. Además se realiza un estudio sobre la legislación existente sobre residuos peligrosos. Se propone una forma de manipulación de los lodos debido a que éstos necesitan ser removidos de las piscinas, ésta se divide en diferentes etapas: secado, recolección y transporte interno, y acopio temporal pensando en un tratamiento y/o disposición final de éstos. Posteriormente se proponen alternativas para el tratamiento y/o disposición final, para luego llevar a cabo un estudio preliminar de una de las alterativa de acuerdo a la realidad e interés de ENAMI a escala de laboratorio.

Then a sampling plan is made for the chemical and physical characterization of the sludge. Based on the results obtained, its dangerousness is determined, where it is classified in waste lists and according to the compendium of Chilean regulations on dangerous substances. In addition, a study is carried out on the existing legislation on hazardous waste. A form of sludge handling is proposed because they need to be removed from the pools, it is divided into different stages: drying, collection and internal transport, and temporary storage thinking of a treatment and / or final disposal of these. Subsequently, alternatives are proposed for treatment and/or final disposal, to then carry out a preliminary study of one of the alternatives according to the reality and interest of ENAMI on a laboratory scale
