El Mercado Integrado Latinoamericano, desafíos pendientes

Abstract

Este trabajo, a la luz del reciente anuncio de fusión de las bolsas de comercio de Santiago, Lima y Colombia, busca exponer la evolución y los desafíos que presenta el Mercado Integrado Latinoamericano, propuesta que congrega además de las referidas entidades, a la bolsa de México, y a sus depósitos centralizados de estos cuatro países, que ya lleva más de doce años de funcionamiento. Los resultados de esta última iniciativa no han sido del todo promisorios, cuestión que obedece, entre otros aspectos a la falta de ajustes y armonizaciones normativas en distintos ámbitos, como el societario y tributario, orgánicos, cambiarios y de control, cuestiones que deben ser especialmente tenidas en cuenta si se quiere obtener mejores rendimientos con la fusión bursátil referida.

This work, in light of the recent announcement of the merger of the Santiago, Lima and Colombian stock exchanges, seeks to explain the evolution and challenges of the the Latin American Integrated Market, a proposal that brings together, in addition to the aforementioned entities, the Mexican Stock Exchange and its centralized deposits in these four countries, which has been operating for more than twelve years. The results of this last initiative have not been very promising, due, among other aspects, to the lack of adjustments and regulatory harmonization in different areas, such as corporate and tax, organic, exchange and control, issues that must be taken into account if better returns are to be obtained with the referred stock market merger.
