One of the consequences that the Covid-19 pandemic has caused worldwide is mental health problems. In this document, it was estimated the effect of quarantines on the mental health medical leaves of the female workers insured in Fonasa, the public health insurance that covers 80% of the national population. To measure the effect, it was estimated using difference-in-differences method controlling for fixed effects and a second model that measures the effect of the intensity on quarantines. The results showed that the women who had mental sick leaves living in the communes most affected by the confinement were longer durations than the women who lived in communes less affect by the quarantine....

This study is focused on studying the causal effect of crime on the mental health of individuals. For this, the Chilean Longitudinal Social Survey (ELSOC) is used, which incorporates the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) to measure mental health, socioeconomic variables and perceptions of safety. Additionally, data from objective crime measures will be used with data from the Center for Crime Studies and Analysis with information on crimes at the community level. Taking advantage of longitudinal data, the effect of crime will be evaluated at the level of urban communes with both objective and subjective measures on the mental health of individuals. A statistically significant effect of the Arrests rate per 100,000 inhabitants on the worsening of the PHQ-9 Indicator was found. Additionally, for the perception of an increase in the frequency of fights there is also a statistically significant impact and even greater than the previously described one....
