Environmental management and its tools are essential in the industry to mitigate the impact in the environment. In this way, companies seek to carry out and develop actions aimed at the continuous improvement of their productive activities and optimize their interrelation with the environment. In this Title Seminar, a company that produces and sells chemical products is analyzed which does not have control or mitigation systems for the environmental aspects associated with its production processes. In it four production processes are carried in it which lead to the manufacture of souls for foundry, tablets for treatment of waste, filters for ethylene and cleaning products The general objective is to prepare a conceptual proposal for an Environmental Management System (EMS) in phase I and II for the company under study. In order to complete this objective, an initial environmental diagnosis is made to understand management's commitment to the environmental issue, and the company's current conditions in relation to the environment, its aspects and impacts. On the other hand, the commitment and environmental objectives are determined and documented by the management of the company. Finally, a set of actions aimed at complying with the defined environmental objectives are planned. For the diagnosis, a series of tools were used to identify the environmental aspects associated with the operation and production of the company, as well as the identification of the stages and hazardous substances used. These tools are Internal Audit, Flowcharts, Safety Sheets, matrix of legal requirements and matrix of environmental impact aspect which allowed to quantify the importance of each environmental aspect. From this, environmental objectives were defined, which were the framework for the drafting of the company's environmental policy, in which the commitment to environmental conservation was made explicit through the propose management of environmental aspects related to their activities, as well permanent compliance with current environmental legislation and the development of continuous improvement, aimed at preventing pollution and optimizing the use of resources. In addition, permanent improvement and training by staff is sought, with regard to the management of environmental aspects. The policy was documented and published to available to the interested parties. To address these objectives, action plans were proposed that consider the environmental aspects and actions to mitigate them. Along with this, roles and responsibilities that each member of the company will have involved in the design of the SGA, were defined. In the diagnosis, a total of 56 environmental aspects were identified, which were analyzed through the environmental impact matrix, resulting in 57% of these being classified as low and 43% as moderate impacts. Some of the aspects identified in most of the stages and processes were the generation of fugitive particulate, due to poor handling and condition of packaging of solid raw materials such as calcium hypochlorite, potassium permanganate and sodium hydroxide; the spillage of dangerous substances, being some of these hydrochloric and phosphoric acid, sodium hypochlorite and butyl glycol; and the excessive generation of hazardous waste whose main source is the packaging of the raw materials used. These aspects can negatively impact the environment, affecting the atmospheric quality, the quality of the soil and water courses in case of spill. The excessive accumulation of hazardous waste that must be disposed of. Finally, the proposed action plans are aimed at minimizing the risk of the environmental aspects , these contemplate specific actions aimed at complying with the environmental objectives set for the GHS. To address the issue of generation of packaging as hazardous waste, it is proposed to increase the capacity of packaging of raw materials used, while, to mitigate the generation of fugitive particulates and the possibility of spillage, it is proposed to design solid raw material management, also the dangerous substances witch the correct handling must be specified. Finally, and as a goal in all the proposed plans, there is staff training, which will reduce the risk of negative environmental impacts as a result of staff ignorance. The use of this environmental management tool, in the proposed phases, allowed to diagnose, analyze and propose actions, which are oriented to the continuous improvement of the execution of the processes and the environmental security...
