(Universidad de Chile, 2017)
semiurbana y la falta de conocimiento de los propietario con respecto a la Tenencia Responsable de sus mascotas los principales factores que favorecen la infección de los cánidos....
Leptospirosis is a zoonosis with global distribution caused by bacteria of the spirochete type of the genus Leptospira. The transmission of this pathogen is produced by direct or indirect contact with urine of infected animals. Wildlife animals play an important role in the transmission of the bacteria, with rodents being the main wild reservoir. Water sources also favor dissemination of the bacteria, which can remain in it for long periods of time. To identify pathogenic Leptospiras and their relationship between seropositivity with biological variables and the management of dogs in La Pintana commune, blood samples were taken from domestic canines. To assess the presence of nine serotypes of Leptospira, the microMAT technic was used. A survey was applied to owners to collect information on management and individual factors of the dogs. Pathogenic Leptospira were detected in 15 of 119 individuals, with Canicola being the most frequent serovar. The variables vaccination, degree of supervision during walks, consumption of drinking water and contact with rodents, had a significant association with seropositivity, rodents being a source of dissemination in the semi-urban areas and the lack of knowledge of the owners regarding the responsible ownership of pets being the main factors that favor the infection of canids....

The companion animals through the years have managed to position themselves in the family nucleus, being considered one more member of the family. Therefore, the death of the animal can be as significant as the loss of a loved one for its caregiver, bringing with it different consequences at a psychological, physical and social level. This project is part of a qualitative approach, focused on study of the grieving process by the loss of a companion animal and the generation development of products that respond to postulated requirements. The collection of relevant information was carried out through surveys on the subject and an exhaustive review of material and information from scientific articles and theses on Design, Psychology, Veterinary Medicine and Business Administration related to the relationship between pets and humans, process of bereavement and funeral rituals industry. As a result of the analysis carried out on the Theoretical Framework, State of the Art and Contextualization, this project obtains a design proposal that considers the realization of tangible symbolic elements of accompaniment during the grieving process of the loss of a pet and the realization of the respective prototypes to identify the most relevant materiality and production process for each case....

In Chile, public health problems are diverse, including the uncontrolled population of animals, dogs and cats, affecting various aspects of physical and psychological welfare of these and the related persons. Given the present problem it is that the term "responsible ownership" needs to be internalized in the behavior of animal care, which occurs mainly in the early stages of socialization of children. In the UK the concept of DOC is based on understanding the understanding and perception have children about their pets, to design educational interventions, evaluating attitudes, empathy and attachment based on early knowledge to the animals. In Chile, there is no research to evaluate these three concepts together is why the adoption of this model. Objective: To develop semantic and cultural adaptation of a questionnaire that evaluates attitudes, attachment and empathy for companion animals developed the approach DOC in a group of Chilean students in fourth through seventh grade from Qhapaq KunaSchool in the Metropolitan Region. For this, three methodological processes were used: The first is based on the adequacy of translation and the back translation of the original instrument, "Children and Young people's views of animals and pets" in English to Chilean Spanish by the steps simple translation, back translation, revision of the language and semantic equivalence. A second phase for the study of comprehensiveness and acceptability of the instrument submitted to a sample of 32 school, through an interview consisting of two parts, the first which respond to the questionnaire translated, and the second where he talks to the school, where he will give his opinion of the questionnaire, data collection will be made by the transcript of the answers, the analysis is qualitative. The third phase envisages an expert consultation to collect information on the applicability of the questionnaire and recommendations on specific use from their own fields. The sample of participants will be 8 Professional: 3 veterinarians, 3 Teachers as basic education, 2 Psychologists Child themes as likely to care. This consultation will be held in the format of an interview via online each expert. The analysis of responses will be with an array of responses, which will be divided into two sections, the first frequency analysis on dichotomous scale, and the second will be descriptive analysis of the justifications that provide experts to questions made. The results obtained are of acceptance of the instrument, where the change of 8 of the 41 items to assess occurs. As for the scale of empathy, it is recommended remodel to achieve child-safe measuring the animal empathy....
