The use of by-products, or improvements in industrial processes, stand to achieve increased the productive yields of firms, often driving innovation. As a result, there is great interest in exploiting the byproducts of prickly pear (Opuntia ficus indica). Their cladodes have fiber and hydrocolloids in conformation, and it is important to develop alternative processing of these byproducts, adding value and increasing its useful life. The aim of this work was to apply infrared drying, as an emergent technology, to study the effect of drying temperature on the drying kinetics of cladodes of prickly pear. Worked air velocity of 1 m/s at 40, 50 and 60°C with a capacity of 0, 400 and 800 W infrared in each case, obtaining 9 different treatments. Time interval for drying the samples were obtained from 21 to 68 minutes between the treatments used, corresponding to the conditions of 60°C to 800WIR and 40°C without application of infrared, respectively. Eight mathematical models found in literature were used to represent the experimental drying kinetics obteined. Based on statistical tests, the Wang & Sing model presented the best fit. Values of moisture effective diffusivities were in the range of 9,76x10-08 to 4,09x10-07 m/s2. Dehydrated samples with 10% relative humidity (dry basis) were obtained for the nine set conditions, which were evaluated quality parameters like color, CRA and microstructure. Treatment at 50°C with an infrared power of 400 W, was the the lowest total loss of color (ΔΕ) presented using infrared, with its value of 44,32 ± 3,74, this was not significantly different whit higer powers and temperatures. For water retention capacity (WRC), the lowest value was observed in treatment 60°C, 800 W IR with a value of 7,44 ± 0,70 and the highest was 9,95 ± 0,30 for treatment 50°C, 400 W IR. To microstructural level, destruction of plant tissue, rough textures and larger cavities was observed with increasing as temperature treatments as the condition of infrared power...

It is studied that mass transfer between the Limarí river mouth, Tongoy bay and Barnes bay across of the integration of costal units, identifying accumulation forms, morphosedimentological, relations in the groups of existing forms and the mass transport in the coast. For identifying forms of accumulation in the areas of study, it was necessary to make a geomorphological description, identifying fluvial forms, river-marine, marine terraces and aeolian forms. For the analysis of morphosedimentological relations, it became necessary to perform granulometric analysis according to the procedures of textural distribution and sand morphocopic, including the mineralogy. For the transport of littoral mass we used qualitative techniques through the multitemporary analysis the depositional environment, a temporary range of 27 years, analyzing Landsat satellite images of the years 1987, 1997, 2004 and 2011. The results show the strong structural control and oblique orientation dominantly of the bays as factors that enable the sedimentation of the coastal system, operating the effect of cove principles in them. It is considered that the source of supply for Tongoy and Barnes bays comes from Limarí river basin, but it is also necessary to consider other transport means of sediments that does not necessarily have relation to the river or its discharge zone. The multi-temporal analysis of satellite images reflects that the mass transfer between the different systems ocurred in the recent period due to conditions that exceeded the threshold of sediment transport, these conditions are due to increase in the intensity and heavy rainfall. The forms that reflect changes in the deposition environments correspond to coastal arrows and dune fields which are sensitive areas to the contributions of sediments between systems....
