Lymphoma is the most common hemopoietic neoplasm in cats. Its incidence has increased, specially its most prevalent type. It has been associated with different aetiologies such as infection with feline leukemia virus or feline immunodeficiency virus, inflammatory conditions, and exposure to environmental pollutants such as tobacco smoke. The most frequently used treatment is chemotherapy, in combination with surgery or radiotherapy, depending location and characteristics of the tumour and the availability of these treatments, since, for example, radiotherapy is a very useful technique that is not yet available in Chile. To carry out a correct treatment, a clear classification of the different types of feline lymphoma is crucial, for which a good diagnostic process is required, however, there is still no consensus in a universal classification system. For this reason, the objective of this monograph is to propose a classification system based on the diagnostic techniques available in veterinary medicine and the information they provide. Within the search carried out, 28 studies between the years 2002 and 2021 were finally selected, and 23 of them categorized with Degree of Experimental Design I - III were used. The most widely diagnostic techniques were identified in this sample, obtaining, in this way, solid information to characterize lymphomas according to their location, phenotype, cell size and morphology, growth pattern, and mitotic count. In this way, we conclude that, after determining the anatomical location of the tumour(s) using imaging techniques (radiography, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, among others), the fundamental diagnostic techniques for a good classification are based on histopathology and immunohistochemistry, which despite being classical techniques, provide a complete and reliable characterization of lymphoma. Only in exceptional cases, in which there is doubt about the identification of the cell types, the use of PCR for Antigen Receptor Rearrangement (PARR) is recommended, which distinguishes between monoclonal and polyclonal type pictures (neoplasia inflammation, respectively). Following the tumour characterization sequence, we proposed a classification scheme, which can be applied to the different types of lymphoma starting from its anatomical location....
