Abstractdc.description.abstractIn this work the utilization of an Andersen cascade impactor for the study of atmospheric aerosols is analyzed. The impactor is run at 4.7 cfm during 24 h, fractionating the particulate matter into five sizes, from 2.84 to 0.41 µm. This permits both the study of massize distribution and the chemical analyzis of some elements (Pb, Cu, Ni, Fe, Mg, etc.) and compounds (SO=4, Cl-3, NO-3, etc). The utilization of Long-Normal distribution to mass-size distribution is studied in order to characterize atmospheric aerosols by two statistical parameters: aerodynamic mass median diameter (MMD) and geometric standard deviation (Ó). The method of obtention of these parameters was optimized.es_CL
