Abstractdc.description.abstractThis paper presents an empirical analysis for the two basic dimensions of the unemployment phenomena: incidence and duration in the urban labor market in Paraguay. The analysis uses the most recent data available, the Encuesta de Hogares 1996, and convers the urban areas of Paraguay. The main conclusion is that the unemployment in the urban areas is concentrated in the group of youngest worker, under 20 year of age, and the majority of the unemployed suffers fairly short unemployment periods - 2 weeks or even less.en_US
