Caracterización de inmunoglobulinemia en potrillos fina sangre de carrera pertenecientes a un haras de la zona sur de Chile

Abstract

El objetivo de este estudio fue caracterizar las concentraciones de los isotipos de inmunoglobulinas (IgA, IgE, IgG e IgM) presentes en potrillos Fina Sangre de Carrera (FSC) de entre cuatro a seis meses de edad. Tal caracterización consistió en determinar la concentración de las inmunoglobulinas en los potrillos, comparar la concentración según sexo, establecer valores de referencia de inmunoglobulinas para los potrillos del estudio y correlacionar los niveles de inmunoglobulinas séricas totales con los niveles de proteínas séricas totales. El estudio fue realizado en el haras Don Alberto y se utilizó un total de 60 individuos. A cada potrillo se le extrajo 7 mL de sangre, para medir las inmunoglobulinas, realizar un perfil bioquímico y hemograma para asegurar que estuviesen clínicamente sanos. Los resultados de las inmunoglobulinas fueron sometidos a un análisis exploratorio de datos, se utilizaron intervalos de confianza asociados a prueba de T-Student, análisis de varianza de una vía con test de Tukey, correlación de Pearson y regresión lineal. En todo el estudio se utilizó un p<0,05. Los valores de las inmunoglobulinas obtenidos resultaron ser distintos a los existentes en la literatura para equinos adultos. Los niveles de IgE no se pudieron determinar debido a la escasa concentración, lo cual fue asociado a la edad de los ejemplares. No se observaron diferencias en su concentración atribuibles al sexo, lo que también puede explicarse por la edad de los potrillos. Finalmente, no hubo correlación entre los valores de inmunoglobulinas séricas totales y proteínas séricas totales, que puede asociarse a que las variaciones en los valores de inmunoglobulinas podrían ser atribuidas al reciente desarrollo del sistema inmune del potrillo y no repercutirían significantemente en los valores de proteínas séricas totales. El tamaño muestral del estudio no permite considerar estos resultados como valores de referencia para la especie, y por lo tanto sólo podrían ser utilizados para el haras Don Alberto, aunque serán de gran utilidad, ya que no existe esta información para la etapa etaria de equinos FSC de este estudio

The aim of this study was to characterize the values of the immunoglobulins isotypes (IgA, IgE, IgG and IgM) present in Thoroughbred foals between four to six months old. Such characterization consisted in determine the concentration of immunoglobulins in the foals, compare the concentration according to sex, establish reference values of immunoglobulins for foals for the foals of the study and correlate the levels of total serum immunoglobulins with the levels of the total serum proteins. The study was carried out at haras Don Alberto and a total of 60 individuals were used. 7 mL of blood were extracted per foal and poured, to measure the immunoglobulins, perform a biochemical profile and blood count to ensure that they were clinically healthy. The immunoglobulins results were subjected to an exploratory data analysis, confidence intervals associated with T-Student test, one-way analysis of variance with Tukey test, Pearson correlation and linear regression were used. For the whole study p <0.05 was used. The values of the immunoglobulins obtained were found turned out to be different to those existing in the literature for adult horses. IgE levels could not be measured due to the low concentration associated with the age of the specimens. There were no differences in their concentration attributable to sex, which can also be explained by the age of the foals. Finally, there was no correlation between the values of total serum immunoglobulins and total serum proteins, which may be associated with the fact that variations in the immunoglobulin values could be attributed to the recent development of the foal's immune system and would not have a significant effect on total serum protein values. The sample size of the study does not allow to consider these results as reference values for the species, and therefore they could only be used by haras Don Alberto, although they will be very useful, since this information does not exist for the equine age stage and breed of this study
