| Abstract | dc.description.abstract | HTLV-I has been revealed as the etiological factor of the Tropical Spastic Paraparesis (TSP) and of the T-cell leukemia-lymphoma of the adult (ATLL). Recently, it has also been associated to some forms of polymyositis, polyarthritis, polyneuropathies, Sjögren's syndrome, thrombocytopenia and lympho-alveolitis. The clinical and pathological spectrum of this retrovirus is analyzed taking into account the Chilean cases and those reported by the international medical literature. | |
