Cuerpo muerto y ética : responsabilidades éticas del equipo de enfermería en los cuidados post mortem

Abstract

Los seres humanos somos seres que vivimos insertos en una sociedad, siempre tenemos a un “otro” que no es que exista porque lo pensamos, sino que este con su presencia y libertad “irrumpe en mi existencia” (Gevaert, 2003), esta irrupción en “mi existencia” no se hace tan solo presente mientras ese ser se encuentre con vida, sino que su presencia trasciende más allá de si tiene o no signos vitales. En la actualidad, en el ámbito hospitalario así como en la comunidad, los moribundos son escondidos, se cubre la cama con biombos, se cierran las cortinas, se oculta, en general tal como plantea Elias, pareciese que se ignora las necesidades que van más allá de lo físico y sólo se espera el desenlace, son omitidos en su faceta emocional y espiritual por la incomodidad que genera reflejarnos en ellos como seres vulnerables, esa incomodidad de vernos reflejados en el otro, ese miedo a la muerte, nos impide enfrentarnos a aquello en lo que algún día nos convertiremos. En general en la formación de los estudiantes de las áreas de la salud, se contempla la muerte como el hecho culmine de la posibilidad de la medicina, visto inclusive como algo negativo, un fracaso, no se tratan los aspectos sociales y culturales que rodean el deceso. La labor de las enfermeras involucra el cuidado del individuo en todo su ciclo vital, desde el nacimiento hasta que este muere, contemplando en la práctica los cuidados post mortem desde una perspectiva más bien técnica sin profundizar las otras dimensiones que lo rodean, por lo que parece interesante hacer una revisión de la responsabilidad ética de este profesional para con ese cuerpo sin vida desde la perspectiva de la ética del cuidado.

In general, in the training of students in the areas of health, death is considered as the culmination of the possibility of medicine, even seen as something negative, a failure, the social and cultural aspects that surround the death. The work of the nurses involves caring for the individual throughout his life cycle, from birth until he dies, contemplating in practice the post-mortem care from a rather technical perspective without deepening the other dimensions that surround him, so that It seems interesting to review the ethical responsibility of this professional for this lifeless body from the perspective of the ethics of care.
