Memoria operativa y comprensión lectora en estudiantes de Enseñanza Media: estudio de caso e intervención en estudiantes con bajo rendimiento en memoria operativa

Abstract

La investigación revisó la efectividad de un proceso de instrucción de estrategias diseñadas para optimizar la memoria operativa en sujetos con bajo desempeño en esta área. Para ello se construyó un estudio de caso en donde se trabajó con 4 estudiantes del nivel primero medio de un liceo público femenino de la comuna de Santiago. Primeramente el estudio evaluó mediante la aplicación del test de memoria operativa (PAL) a todas las estudiantes del nivel primero medio (91 sujetos), para luego seleccionar las participantes que se encontraban dentro del porcentaje de menor desempeño en la prueba y cumplían con los criterios de exclusión previamente determinados. Luego se procedió a trabajar durante un semestre en un proceso de instrucción que buscaba optimizar su memoria operativa para luego proceder a evaluar a las participantes nuevamente y observar si existió progreso en su rendimiento en su memoria operativa. De manera paralela a la aplicación del test PAL se aplicó el test de competencias lectoras (CompLEC) a las participantes para integrar información respecto a las competencias lectoras de las participantes y poder revisar la vinculación de estas con los resultados en la prueba de memoria operativa.

The research reviewed the effectiveness of an instructional process of strategies designed to optimize working memory in subjects with low performance in this area. To this end, a case study was built, where four students from the first level of a public high school for women from the district of Santiago were worked on. Firstly, the study evaluated by means of the application of the working memory test (Prueba amplitud lectora) to all the students of the first level (91 subjects), to then select the participants that were within the percentage of lower performance in the test and met the criteria of exclusion. Then, they proceeded to work during a semester in an instruction process that sought to optimize their working memory and then proceeded to evaluate the participants again and see if there was progress in their performance in operational memory. Parallel to the application of the PAL test, the reading competencies test (CompLEC) was applied to the participants to integrate information regarding the reading skills of the participants and to check the link between these and the results in the working memory test.
