Del estadio a la calle. Hinchas y barras de fútbol en la revuelta social de Chile

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to present some theses, and some frameworks of understanding as well, with the purpose of observing and understanding the emergence of football crews and supporters on Chile social uprising since last 18th of October. On the basis of reviewing a series of events and news covered on the media, where crews and supporters were involved on that period of time, the discussion is developed through three questions which thus enable this study, How can the emergence of football crews be explained within the context of this social uprising?; What is the current relation between political affairs and football crews? and What does Chilean academic production offer to explain or not?; and How and Why these football crews have become a priority of public security in this context? The main conclusions point to two transformations, which started in 2010, There have been societal transformations (politicization of society and democratization of social relations) that allow us to understand its emergence in the framework of the social revolt of October 2019, as well as to explain the changes in organized barrism in its last years. In the second half of the text, we reflect on the manufacture and presentation of soccer bars as an important public enemy of the social order, describing scenes and events that reveal a fear of the popular classes in the country.

La pretensión del escrito es elaborar algunas tesis, así como marcos de sentido, para observar y comprender la emergencia de las barras e hinchas del fútbol en la revuelta del 18 de octubre de 2019 en Chile. Sobre la base de una revisión de sucesos y hechos cubiertos por la prensa donde se involucran a las barras e hinchas en ese marco temporal, se reflexiona sobre tres preguntas que permiten desplegar todo el escrito: ¿Cómo explicar la emergencia de las barras, de las y los hinchas, en el marco de la protesta social? ¿Qué relación tiene lo político y las barras de fútbol en los últimos años? ¿Qué ofrece la producción académica chilena para explicar o no? y, por último, ¿Cómo y por qué las barras se transformaron en un objetivo prioritario de la seguridad pública en este contexto? Como respuestas provisorias se indica que desde el 2010 se han producido transformaciones societales (politización de la sociedad y democratización de las relaciones sociales) que permiten comprender su emergencia en el marco de la revuelta social de octubre de 2019, así como explicar los cambios en el barrismo organizado en sus últimos años. En la segunda mitad del texto, se reflexiona en torno a la fabricación y presentación de las barras de fútbol como un importante enemigo público del orden social, describiendo escenas y hechos que dan cuenta de un temor hacia las clases populares, de larga data en el país.
