(Re)interpretaciones proyectuales de un faro : nuevo Faro Posesión de los 500 años

Abstract

Los faros constituyen una de las ayudas a la navegación más importantes que propician la señalización marítima en lugares inhóspitos de difícil travesía. Su rol a través de la historia como objeto arquitectónico constructor de identidades en torno a la navegación lo posiciona como uno de los manifiestos más importantes del patrimonio naval mundial. Actualmente, su figura ha sido empujada a espacios de obsolescencia arquitectónica y programática que han conllevado el abandono y deterioro de muchas de estas estructuras, propiciando imaginarios que desvalorizan sus atributos restándole importancia a su conservación patrimonial. En chile, el Faro Posesión ubicado en la bahía del mismo nombre, significó alguna vez una de las señalizaciones marítimas más importantes del acceso Atlántico del Estrecho de Magallanes, siendo el primer lugar de encallamiento de naves en su descubrimiento hace ya 500 años y uno de los más importantes en la construcción de la identidad naval de la región. Hoy, su obsolescencia lo ha llevado finalmente a estar fuera de uso, apagando su luz y dejando a la deriva muchos de sus valores arquitectónicos y patrimoniales que hoy lo hacen ser Monumento Histórico. La presente investigación corresponde a los antecedentes del proyecto de título “(Re)interpretaciones proyectuales de un faro”, que busca otorgarle a la imagen del faro nuevas interpretaciones y usos que rescaten sus valores, llevando al límite las discusiones contemporáneas en torno a su figura desde la intervención del objeto arquitectónico y su lugar, para llegar a través de un futuro proyecto a una solución arquitectónica que permita encender la luz que algún día se apagó.

Lighthouses are one of the most important navigation aids that promote maritime signaling in inhospitable places that are difficult to navigate. Its role throughout history as an architectural object that constructs identities around navigation positions it as one of the most important manifestos of world naval heritage. Currently, its figure has been pushed into spaces of architectural and programmatic obsolescence that have led to the abandonment and deterioration of many of these structures, propitiating imaginaries that devaluate their attributes by reducing the importance of their heritage conservation. In Chile, the “Faro Posesión”, located in the bay of the same name, once meant one of the most important maritime signals of the Atlantic access of the “Estrecho de Magallanes” being the first place of stranding of ships in its discovery 500 years ago and one of the most important in the construction of the naval identity of the region. Today, its obsolescence has finally led it to be out of use, turning off its light and leaving behind many of its architectural and heritage values that today make it a Historical Monument. The present investigation corresponds to the antecedents of the title project “(Re)Interpretaciones proyectuales de un faro”, which seeks to give the image from the intervention of the architectural object and its place, to pushing contemporary discussions about its figure to the limit from the intervention of the architectural object and its place, to arrive through a future project to an architectural solution that allows to turn on the light that one day went out.
