Abstract
dc.description.abstract
In this thesis, made up of three chapters, three dimensions of
the financial field relevant to economic development are studied. In the
first chapter, based on a panel of data from 74 countries, the existence
of a causal relationship between the development of financial
institutions and markets and the growth of total factor productivity is
contrasted; in the second, using a panel of data from 82 countries, the
implications for competition of bank concentration; Finally, in the third,
with a panel of data from the Chilean Pension Fund Administrators, the
demand for differentiated products in the pension market is studied.
