Estudio de la aplicación de la normativa forestal en la provincia de Choapa, Región de Coquimbo

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio sobre la aplicabilidad de la normativa forestal en la Provincia de Choapa, Región de Coquimbo, Chile a través de una práctica profesional. Se trabajó en la Unidad de Fiscalización y Evaluación Ambiental de la Corporación Nacional Forestal (CONAF), detallando las labores de la Corporación como Órgano de la Administración del Estado con Competencia Ambiental (OEACA), en la tramitación de planes de trabajo, planes de manejo y planes de corrección y en la realización de actividades de fiscalización relativas a la normativa forestal. Se destaca la presencia del sector minero en la zona, correspondiendo al principal actor respecto a las intervenciones a la vegetación y a las evaluaciones ambientales. La información recabada en el desarrollo de este estudio muestra a su vez la insuficiente regulación respecto a la intervención de formaciones xerofíticas.

A study was conducted through a professional internship on the applicability of forestry regulations in the Province of Choapa, Coquimbo Region, Chile. The study was developed in the Environmental Oversight and Assessment Unit of CONAF (Corporación Nacional Forestal, in Spanish), detailing the work of this organism as a State Administration Body with Environmental Competence (OEACA in Spanish), in the processing of formal requests to intervene native vegetation and in activities related to the enforcement of regulations associated to forests and xerophytic formations. The presence of the mining industry in the area was a notable aspect, representing the main reason behind interventions to native vegetation and projects subjected to environmental evaluation. The information gathered during this study reveals an insufficient regulation regarding the intervention of xerophytic formations.
