Vínculo entre creatividad y psicopatología: Una aproximación gestáltica al caso de Vicent Van Gogh

Abstract

El auge del estudio de la creatividad, y de su importancia dentro de la sociedad contemporánea, ha hecho resurgir el interés sobre su controversial vínculo con la presencia de diversas psicopatologías. Mediante un enfoque gestáltico, la presente investigación tuvo por objetivo indagar en el modo en que este lazo tomó forma en la vida y obra de Vincent van Gogh. Para ello se llevó a cabo una revisión bibliográfica de recientes recopilaciones biográficas y patográficas del pintor, así como de los principales testimonios epistolares. Además, se realizó una revisión de la principal literatura gestáltica que aborda el tema de psicopatología y creatividad. Se logró hallar diversos relatos que confirmarían la tesis gestáltica que vincula creatividad con estados de bienestar psicológico y buena salud mental, así como de reportes que demostraban como los síntomas psicóticos podían ser una perturbación para la labor creativa

Abstract The rise of the study of creativity, and its importance in contemporary society, has resurfaced the interest in its controversial link with the presence of various psychopathologies. Through a gestaltic approach, the present research aimed to investigate the way in which this connection shaped Vincent van Gogh’s life and work. A bibliographic review of recent biographical and pathographic compilations of the painter, as well as of the main epistolary testimonies, was carried out. Furthermore, a revision was conducted of the main literature that addresses the topic of psychopathology and creativity, along with the main texts of Gestalt Therapy on the subject. It was possible to find several stories that would confirm the gestaltic thesis that links creativity with states of psychological well-being and good mental health, as well as reports that illustrated how psychotic symptoms could be a disturbance to creative work
