Sobre Padiglione Rosso de Alfredo Jaar

Abstract

Neoliberal urbanism is a concept used to describe the progressive privatization of public space and the commodification of our cities. The CityLife project in the city of Milan is an example of this phenomenon. The article presents the work Pabellon Rojo by the artist Alfredo Jaar, recently inaugurated in the heart of CityLife, and analyzes its ability to operate as a landscape architecture project, framing the urban landscape and providing the observer with an aesthetic experience that allows reflect on the city we have created. Art, architecture and landscape come together in this work.

El urbanismo neoliberal es un concepto que se utiliza para describir la progresiva privatización del espacio público y la mercantilización de nuestras ciudades. El proyecto CityLife en la ciudad de Milán es un ejemplo de este fenómeno. El artículo presenta la obra Pabellón Rojo del artista Alfredo Jaar, recientemente inaugurado en el corazón de la CityLife, y analiza su capacidad de operar como un proyecto de arquitectura del paisaje, enmarcando el paisaje urbano y entregando a quien observa, una experiencia estética que permite reflexionar acerca de la ciudad que hemos creado. Arte, arquitectura y paisaje se conjugan en esta obra.
