Dignificar el aspecto de la vía venosa central en niños con tratamiento de quimioterapia endovenosa

Abstract

La implementación del catéter venoso central, durante el tratamiento de quimioterapia endovenosa para el cáncer en niños(as), está comprobado que es uno de los hechos más traumático en el proceso de sanación de la enfermedad. Chile culturalmente es una sociedad poco tolerante y abierta a la diferencia, esta cualidad, a la larga, hace que las personas que evidencian físicamente una patología, se sientan discriminadas y aumenten todos los síntomas negativos, que significa vivir con una enfermedad crónica, como lo son la depresión, angustia, baja autoestima, frustración, etc. Con la finalidad de contribuir en la mejora de la experiencia emocional en el niño al momento de la implementación del catéter, se plantea el siguiente objetivo: desarrollar una alternativa de elementos para las vías venosas centrales tunelizadas comunes, a fin de responder tanto a las necesidades médicas del niño como a las emocionales del mismo y sus cuidadores, dignificando el aspecto del niño(a) y mejorando su experiencia durante el tratamiento de quimioterapia endovenosa para tratar el cáncer. La metodología utilizada fue la del doble diamante, de esta manera se transcurre por las cuatro etapas correspondientes: descubrir el problema, definirlo, desarrollar posibles soluciones y entregar el resultado. El resultado final fue un Kit para el catéter pediátrico, que consta de: 3 piezas pinzas, que fueron rediseñadas para adaptarse a las necesidades del accesorio principal, los cuales son, 3 anillos con figuras lúdicas personalizadas con estética infantil, para cada luz del catéter. Se concluye que el objetivo planteado al principio de la investigación fue logrado, de manera que, se evidencia la percepción confiable en lo funcional e infantil desde lo expresivo por los usuarios, generando un aporte a la experiencia emocional de la indumentaria medica infantil para el tratamiento del cáncer.

The implementation of the central venous catheter during intravenous chemotherapy treatment for cancer in children has been proven to be one of the most traumatic events in the healing process of the disease. Chile is a culturally intolerant and open to difference society, this quality, in the long run, makes people who physically evidence a pathology, feel discriminated and increase all the negative symptoms, which means living with a chronic disease, such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, frustration, etc.. In order to contribute to the improvement of the emotional experience of the child at the time of the implementation of the catheter, the following objective is proposed: to develop an alternative of elements for common tunneled central venous lines, in order to respond to both the medical needs of the child and the emotional needs of the child and his caregivers, dignifying the appearance of the child and improving his experience during the treatment of intravenous chemotherapy to treat cancer. The methodology used was that of the double diamond, thus going through the four corresponding stages: discovering the problem, defining it, developing possible solutions and delivering the result. The final result was a kit for the pediatric catheter, consisting of: 3 pieces clamp, which were redesigned to adapt to the needs of the main accessory, which are 3 rings with playful figures personalized with child aesthetics, for each light of the catheter. It is concluded that the objective set at the beginning of the research was achieved, so that, the reliable perception of the functional and infantile from the expressive by the users is evidenced, generating a contribution to the emotional experience of the infantile medical clothing for the treatment of cancer.
