Abstract
dc.description.abstract
central.

Intraguild predation (lGP) is a flequent ilteraction atrong aphidophagous coccinelids
and is colrsidered as one of the possible causes ofthe decrease of thc abundance of
other coccinelids altet tlie invasion of Harnnnio ar..tt.idis (Hu). because of tlre
asimetric IGP in her lavoLlr. In alfalfa fields of ccntral Chile. after the arrival of tl.ris
invasivc species, it produces a significant decrease ofthe abundance and richness of
thc coccinelids, specially natives. In this stucly. rvc evaluatcd. using rnolecular
anal¡,sis ol gut content- tlte inlellsit),. dircction and srmmetry ol tlie IGp bctween FI
aqt'idis lhe exotic species llippotlonia ruriegatd (Hr,) and the native Ei.irpr.l
chilen.¡i.s (trc). the thrce most contrrlol't coccinelids tl]at coexists tcmporalll, and
spatiall),in the alfálfá field ofthe cent¡al zone ofthe countn'. We evaluated, also. the
relation betrveen the intensit), of ICP ri,irh the extraguild (aphicls) and intraguild
(other coccinelids) prey abundance. Our results indicate that Ii¿r is tlie most fl-equent
intraguild pledator, that predates in more f'r.cquencies over lc and that this happens
'egardless
ofthe densi§,ofaphids" The a,ailabiliO ofaphis and the abundance of1/a
are possibll associated to the intensit"v ol the IGp for solre predator_ prev
corxbinator\' (Ec over 11¿¿ and over Hy. I.la over Ht, and Hy over. É1o). This results
suggcst lhat the IGP of I1a can be one of the direct causes olthe decrease of the
nativc coccinelids in thc allalfá ficld ofcentral Chile.
