Smashing Statues, Burning Churches, and Ransacking the Constitution: A Pedagogical Response, Chile 2019–2022
Abstract
This chapter presents an examination of an undergraduate, elective course as a pedagogical response to three compounding anti-urban phenomena: the Chilean Urban Insurrection beginning October 18, 2019, COVID-19 quarantine and online teaching beginning March 27, 2020, and the new normality beginning March 10, 2022, with the return of presential teaching, and the inauguration of the President of Chile, Gabriel Boric and the coalition government Apruebo Dignidad. Interventions in Public Space has been taught at the University of Chile, Santiago de Chile, since 2017.
