New species of Fossombronia (Hepatophyta, Fossom-broniopsida) from Chile

Abstract

Fossombronia valparaisiana Hassel sp. nov. and F. lophoscypha Hassel sp. nov. from the vicinity of Valparaiso (Chile) are described and the spores and elaters are illustrated. No species with spiniferous or verrucose spores had been described so far from southern South America.
