| Abstract | dc.description.abstract | Cerca de tres mil personas han muerto de SIDA en Chile desde 1984, cuando el Hospital Clínico de la Pontificia Universidad Católica notificó el primer caso, correspondiente a un hombre. Un año después se presentó el de una mujer. Se han notificado 4.646 enfermos de SIDA y 5.228 personas VIH asintomáticas desde esa fecha hasta el 31 de diciembre de 2001, en las trece regiones del país. Se ha informado el fallecimiento de 3.012 y se estima que actualmente hay unas 50 mil personas VIH, aunque las cifras oficiales solo reconocen 15 mil. La tasa de incidencia acumulada de SIDA es de 34,3 por 100.000 habitantes. | es_ES |
