Abstract
dc.description.abstract

Abstract
dc.description.abstract
In this article we examine the experience of Nigeria during the oil crisis of the 1980s and the beginning of the implementation of a structural adjustment package. Our analysis focuses on the role played by the labor market, particularly in relation to the employment and unemployment situation, as well as the migratory flows awakened by the crisis and the early reaction to structural policies. We also analyze the role played by the government's wage and income policies, and note that the only way to steadily improve the nation's living standards is by adopting a consistent set of macroeconomic policies.
