Introduction: The pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus promoted the accelerated development of vaccines, which are not exempt from causing adverse effects, thus they must to be permanently monitored. In order to improve the information from the patients of suspected of AEFI, the “Instituto de Salud Pública" of Chile (ISP) developed a digital survey that allowed immunized users with any of these vaccines, to communicate the symptoms presented after their administration, and their consequences in the use of health resources. Objectives: To characterize the AEFI suspicions, obtained through a survey of vaccine safety against SARS-CoV-2 in the chilean population and to compare them with the AEFI reports, made by health professionals. Methodoly: The research was a cross-sectional study of subjects who voluntarily responded the electronic survey “Yo Me Vacuno” about the safety of COVID-19 vaccines approved in Chile, and the use of health resources (medical consultations, treatment administration or hospitalizations). Each subject had the possibility to answer that survey, on days 2, 7 and 42 post-immunization, depending on the scheme and dose received. The included information was collected from February 16 to June 30, 2021 from the “Hospital Digital” platform. Results: During the evaluated period, 10,876,987 surveys were sent out, and 1,635,629 (15.0%) of them were answered at least once by a total of 983,641 users. The average age was 39 ± 13 years, and 52.6% (517,151) were women A total of 224 (0.023%) respondents reported requiring hospitalization after immunization. The potential predictors of requiring hospitalization were being over than 60 years old (OR 1.9; IC95% 1.1-3.3), being male (OR 2.0; IC95% 1.3-3.2), residing in the “Región Metropolitana” (OR 2.2; IC95% 1.4-3.5) and having advanced active cancer (OR 19.0; IC95% 4.8-75.7) or kidney failure (OR 3.8; IC95% 1.5-9.4). The most frequent symptoms reported were injection site reactions, headache, fatigue and myalgia, with different frequencies for each vaccine. Those immunized with first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine, reported a higher proportion of systemic symptoms. Those immunized with Sinovac vaccine, reported a minor proportion of symptoms after the inoculation. The clinical manifestations reported in AEFI notifications are significantly different to those of the surveys; also, in the former here is a higher frequency of suspected serious events. Conclusions: The present study allowed us to characterize the AEFI suspicions about adverse effects that can be cause by vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 iven to the chilean population. The clinical manifestations reported by the health professionals were significantly different to those communicated in the surveys. It’s more, the main difference being in the seriousness, since in the notifications of AEFI, the serious events tended to be reported to a greater extent. Suspected serious adverse events occurred infrequently in the respondents. On the other hand, the possible predictors of requiring hospitalization for clinical manifestations presented after the immunization, are correlated with gender, age, region of residence and morbid history...
