The present thesis studied a small group of novice faculty members of Universidad De Chile´s nursing department in their three first years of educational practice, with the aim of understand the experiences they face in their initiation to the teaching practice. Methodologically it was addressed from a qualitative perspective, with a micro-ethnographic approach. The data was collected through participant observation technique and in deep interviews. The selection on participants was intended. Later on data analysis was done, along with information reduction, discussion and reflection, which originated the conclusions of the present work. The results showed that novice teachers initiate in a natural and individual way, and they perceive the initiation process like positive. Nevertheless, the field work unveiled insecurity feelings, anxiety and anguish typical of that period. With respect to the facts who interfere and/or hinder the educational practice are the lack of pedagogical knowledge, poor proficiency in the teaching language, difficults in handling situations derived from teaching management, lack of formal training and trouble in peer relationships in the new work environment. Like compensatory strategies teachers use the intuition, improvisation, and replicate their own learning experiences in the teaching that they taught. Among the factors that facilitate the teaching initiation, are the professional experience in nursing, a formal training in teaching, the preference for teaching and the personal characteristics that the novice teacher own....

Introduction: Among the treatment alternatives for patients with end-stage Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is organ transplantation. To prevent organ rejection and manage concomitant diseases, multiple drugs are used, increasing the risk of adverse drug events (ADEs) and their possible consequences of temporary or permanent damage or even death. International data suggest that this population develops at least one ADE in 95% of patients. To date, there is limited information on the prevalence and risk factors associated with ADE in this population in Chile. Objective: To determine the prevalence and risk factors associated with ADE that cause damage in kidney transplant patients at the nephrology polyclinic. Methodology: Through a cross-sectional study, carried out between August 2018 and January 2019, a random sample of patients 18 years of age or older who underwent immunosuppressive therapy for 6 months for kidney transplantation, treated at the Polyclinic of transplant from a high complexity hospital in Santiago, Chile. For this study, ADE was defined as any harm caused by drug-related medical interventions, including preventable and unavoidable events. A clinical pharmacist, specially trained for the study, interviewed each selected patient. The interview included the collection of sociodemographic, morbid and pharmacotherapeutic history. These data were compared with information obtained from medical records, recent laboratory tests, and plasma drug levels. Results: A total of 88 patients entered the study. Of them, 57% were women, the mean age was 49 ± 13.8 years, and 49% had higher education. Twenty-nine percent of the cases presented an ADE with clinical involvement, where the main ones were tremor, alopecia, blurred vision, and anxiety. The most affected systems were at the gastrointestinal, cardiac, infectious and immunological levels. 95% of EAM cases were preventable. The treatment scheme of tacrolimus (TAC), mycophenolic acid (MMF) and prednisone (PRED) presented 29.5% of the ADE cases. The main risk factors for the development of ADE with clinical involvement were more than 4 years since the transplant, male gender, over 60 years of age, the number of drugs administered and perceived poor quality of life. According to the SMAQ test, 51% of the patients were non-compliant with the treatment. Conclusion: ADEs are a common health problem in the population studied. Its occurrence with clinical impact is in a third of the patients, it is related to more than 4 years since the transplant, the male sex, being over 60 years of age, the number of drugs administered and perceived poor quality of life.
