Human beings are beings that live inserts in a society, we always have an "other" that does not exist because we think about it, but this with its presence and freedom "breaks into my existence" (Gevaert, 2003), this irruption in "my existence", it is not only present while that being is alive, but its presence transcends beyond whether or not it has vital signs. At present, in the hospital environment as well as in the community, the dying are hidden, the bed is covered with screens, the curtains are closed, it is hidden, in general as Elias suggests, it seems that the needs that go beyond beyond the physical and only the outcome is expected, they are omitted in their emotional and spiritual side because of the discomfort that reflects in them as vulnerable beings, that discomfort of seeing ourselves reflected in the other, that fear of death, prevents us from facing what we will one day become. In general, in the training of students in the areas of health, death is considered as the culmination of the possibility of medicine, even seen as something negative, a failure, the social and cultural aspects that surround the death. The work of the nurses involves caring for the individual throughout his life cycle, from birth until he dies, contemplating in practice the post-mortem care from a rather technical perspective without deepening the other dimensions that surround him, so that It seems interesting to review the ethical responsibility of this professional for this lifeless body from the perspective of the ethics of care....

Absenteeism to classes is a problem at university level, which is especially worrying when faced with changes that have been made in the curriculum, a new model that proposes student-centered learning, with autonomy, commitment and responsibility in Its learning process, a situation that can impact not only in the educational field but also in the social, economic and personal space of students. This research, through a validated questionnaire, investigates the factors that refer 106 nursing students from the first to the third level, not attending classes, considering aspects demographic partners, those related to the teaching that is taught, the organization of Studies and personal and family aspects. According to these, the main results are related to the group of students who work and do not work. The results show that the main absenteeism factors are time overload, they have to study too much, written reports overload, do not sleep well, need time for other courses and the methodological aspects related to the teaching imparted . There is only one statistically significant difference in the relation between the group of students who work and do not work, in table number two "I do not attend classes because too many contents are given”. The foregoing will be relevant information for future proposals to improve this educational process, and to continue with research in depth according to results obtained. Keywords: absenteeism, university studies, education, academic overload....

Medication errors (ME) are among the most common types of medical errors, representing 19% of adverse events in hospitalized patients. Due to the high flow of patients, lack of prior medical history, history of allergies and chronic use of drugs, in addition to stressful situations and frequency of verbal orders, among other factors, the emergency department (ED) are highly vulnerable the occurrence of these errors. Considering that ME are preventable events and can occur during any phase of the Medication Use System (MUS), it is necessary to establish strategies to prevent its occurrence and improve the safety and quality of care in health services The objective of this study was to design and implement interventions to prevent ME in Emergency Department (ED) of a university hospital. Prospective intervention study was conducted in 3 stages. In the first stage of the study literature review and parallel observation of the MUS of ED was performed to detect failures. Feasible strategies implemented in the service were reviewed and selected by a multidisciplinary team, to finally be developed and implemented by a student of pharmacy. Of literature 21 study that had no technological or mixed interventions likely to be implemented, plus 3 studies on electronic prescribing with decision support were selected. Among the strategy found in the literature were selected 13, which applied to more than one stage of MUS, allowed 17 non-technological strategies implemented over a period of 12 weeks. This study helped to show that it is possible to implement an intervention program to prevent ME in a ED, however further studies are needed to evaluate the impact of these measures in clinical practice and whether it will be able to increase the safe use of medicines...

Within the framework of the process of curricular innovation in higher education in Chile, the University of Valparaíso (UV) supported the careers that were interested in participating in the various instances that would allow teachers to be guided in the structuring of a curricular plan that is oriented by competences. With this new view, a growing interest and training of the teaching staff in various teaching-learning methodologies were shown in the Nursing School of the University of Valparaíso, considering both national and international references in similar curricular processes, trying to adopt the new educational paradigm, which allows the achievement of necessary competences for professional practice, which allowed the establishment of a innovative curricular plan from 2014. The present study aims to analyze the perception of the students in teaching-learning methodologies for the development of non-technical professional skills in the classroom and the circumstances that intervene in the third version of the subjects of the first formative cycle of the curricular plan oriented by competences, of the Nursing School of the University of Valparaíso. The specific objectives raised in this study are: i)Validate the instrument designed for the recollection of data of the students’ perception concerning the teaching-learning methodologies that are most relevant to the development of non-technical skills in the classroom, ii) Identify the teaching-learning methodologies that were used in the third version of the various subjects of the first formative cycle of the curricular plan oriented to competences, iii) Establish the methodologies of teaching-learning that contribute the most in the classroom, according to the preference of the students to the development of the non-technical skills, in the subjects of the first formative cycle, iv) Analyze the existence of factors that take part in the development of teaching-learning methodologies in the classroom and how the students’ perception has been influenced by that, regarding the contribution for the development of non-technical skills in the first formative cycle subjects. The research has a quantitative approach of a descriptive scope, non-experimental, transversal, developed with fifth grade students of the career. Fourteen programes were reviewed in the subjects of the first and second year of the career, choosing the methodologies of major use so that they were incorporated afterwards in a valid instrument previously validated in context, reliability and construct. The analysis of the results was obtained from the software Microsoft Excel and the statistical package of IBM SPSS version 22. In the results obtained, the case study methodology reached the highest preference among the students, followed by seminar. Class highlighted the time of understanding, organizing and applying theoretical concepts, while workshop was displaced by other methodologies and flipped classroom maintained a low preference in its support for the development of non-technical skills. Regarding the development of methodologies used, the evaluation pointed out that there was disparity of opinion among the students concerning the time granted, as in the clarity of the purpose of the methodologies for the development of the non-technical skills, constituting itself as a part of the factors that may influence in its acquisition. On the other hand, there was a high agreement regarding the infrastructure to work in the classroom and the comprehension of contents through the methodologies used, as well as a positive evaluation for the teaching advice, incorporating observations regarding the difference of criteria in their role and feedback. It is expected to spread the results among the academics of the career to support the revision stage of the current innovated curricular plan and the decision making inside the subjects, to contribute in a better way to the development of the non-technical skills proclaimed in the graduate profile of the UV nursing career....
