The invasive process with low dispersal : the case of the California poppy Eschscholzia californica
Substrate excavation by Drosophila larvae was studied genetically and behaviorally to understand how they use space and exploit the food offered by their breeding sites...

The gene frequencies of fourteen erythrocyte enzyme systems (phosphoxose isomerase, acid phosphatase, adenylate kinase, adenosine deaminase, 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase, isocitrate dehydrogenase, malate dehydrogenase, esterase D, phosphoglucomutase 1 and 2 peptidases A, B and C calculated on the basis of electrophoretic patterns were used for to evaluate the differentiation between twelve Aymara-speaking indigenous villages in the province of Arica, Chile. The analysis, based on the notion that the current Aymara population originated from an ancestral population that randomly fragmented into a subpopulation....

potencial...
The increase in environmental temperature associated with global warming has imposed important selective pressures on the natural populations of ectothermic animals, so it is necessary to understand the genetic bases and the evolutionary potential of the thermal tolerance landscape to predict whether or not populations will be able to adapt to global warming in the long term. For this, thermal assays were carried out at different temperatures using 100 lines of the DGRP. Through quantitative genetic analyzes it was observed that the landscape of thermal tolerance has a high heritability, in addition to significant genotype-sex and genotype-environment interactions. GWAS analysis identified multiple variants that are positively associated with the thermal tolerance landscape, which map to genes related to signaling and developmental functions. A marked sexual dimorphism was found, which will allow populations to respond to the different selective pressures caused by global warming. In conclusion, the thermal tolerance landscape should have the capacity to evolve in the face of the selective pressures generated by global warming, in addition to presenting genetic variation in phenotypic plasticity, which facilitates adaptive processes, and sexual dimorphism due to antagonistic pleiotropy that maintain the genetic diversity in populations....
