la aromaterapia que demuestran un efecto ansiolítico en diferentes especies animales, en este estudio no se observaron para ninguno de los dos tratamientos....
The objective of this study was to compare the effectiveness of the use a mixture of natural essential oils with the use the use of a synthetic lavender fragrance in decreasing signs of stress in cats, at the time of taking blood samples,. This study involved nine patient cats from the Clinical Hospital of Small Animals of the Faculty of Veterinary and Livestock Sciences of the University of Chile and which required obtaining a blood sample, regardless of the reasons for this. Two groups of patients were formed, a group of cats that received treatment with the essential oil mixture (Calmer®) and the other group received treatment with a synthetic lavender fragrance. Heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure were measured in each group of cats. Then, 1 Calmer® puff or the synthetic lavender fragrance was applied to the inner side of the pinna with a gentle massage. After 30 minutes the blood sample was taken, to finish with a second clinical examination where the heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure constants were re-evaluated. When comparing the results of physiological constants at both times, no statistically significant differences were found. However, a tendency to decrease heart rate and blood pressure was observed in the group of cats receiving natural essential oils in the second test compared to the first clinical examination. The behavioral stress score was evaluated for each of the procedures to which the cats were subjected, no statistically significant differences were found for these scores. Although there is research on aromatherapy demonstrating an anxiolytic effect on different animal species, in this study they were not observed for either treatment....
