Determinación de peso específico y de algunas propiedades biométricas en Eucalyptus globulus (Labill) como materia prima pulpable.

Abstract

En este estudio, el objetivo perseguido fue determinar el comportamiento que presentan el peso específico, la longitud de fibra, el espesor de pared y la masa lineal o coarseness, en Eucalyptus globulus (Labill) y la influencia que tiene el espaciamiento y el raleo sobre estas propiedades. Los análisis fueron efectuados sobre 12 individuos de 14 años, provenientes de cuatro parcelas, con diferentes espaciamientos de plantación (2x2 y 4x4 m), con y sin intervención silvicultural. El área de estudio corresponde al predio Pantanillo, propiedad de la Universidad de Chile, ubicado en la VII Región Para llevar a cabo esta investigación, se analizaron rodelas extraídas al DAP, de las cuales se obtuvieron muestras de madera en los anillos 4, 8, 12 y 14, las que se prepararon de acuerdo a la metodología a utilizar para cada una de las variables en estudio. Con los valores obtenidos de peso específico y de las propiedades biométricas, se realizó un análisis de varianza sobre cada una de estas propiedades, para analizar si el efecto de los esquemas de manejo sobre ellas, es significativo. La herramienta utilizada fue un diseño trifactorial de efectos fijos con tres repeticiones, donde se tomaron como factores, la edad, el espaciamiento de plantación y la intervención silvicultural. De los resultados obtenidos con respecto a la edad, dicen relación con el comportamiento de todas las variables, donde se pudo observar una clara tendencia a aumentar desde medula a corteza, para cada una de ellas. Lo que coincide con los resultados obtenidos para esta y otras especies similares en estudios anteriores. Un interesante resultado obtenido, se refiere al efecto que producen los esquemas de manejo sobre el peso específico de la madera de Eucalyptus globulus (Labill), encontrándose que a mejores condiciones de crecimiento, mayor espaciamiento y raleo, la densidad de esta especie tiende a incrementar, lo que es absolutamente inverso, a lo observado en Pinus radiata (D.Don). Con respecto a las otras propiedades, se pudo establecer que no existe una influencia definitiva de los esquemas de manejo sobre ellas.

n this study, the pursued objective was to determine the behavior that present the specific weight, the fiber longitude, the wall thickness and the lineal mass or coarseness, in Eucalyptus globulus (Labill) and the influence that has the spacing and the thinning about these properties. The analyses were made on 12 trees of 14 year-old individuals, coming from four parcels, with different plantation spacings (2x2 and 4x4 m), with and without silvicultural intervention. The study area corresponds to the property Pantanillo, belonging to the University of Chile, located in the VII Region To carry out this investigation, targets were analyzed extracted the DAP, of which wooden samples were obtained in the rings 4, 8, 12 and 14, those that got ready according to the methodology to use for each one of the variables in study. With the obtained values of specific weight and of the biometric properties, a variance analysis was carried out on each one of these properties, to analyze if the effect of the handling outlines on them, is significant. The used tool was a design trifactorial of fixed effects with three repetitions, where they took as factors, the age, the plantation spacing and the intervention silvicultural. Of the obtained results with regard to the age, they have relation with the behavior of all the variables, where one could observe a clear tendency to increase from marrow to bark, for each one of them. What coincides with the results obtained for this and other similar species in previous studies. An interesting obtained result, it refers to the effect that is produced by the handling outlines on the specific weight of the wood of Eucalyptus globulus (Labill), being that to better conditions of growth, bigger spacing and thinning, the density of this species spreads to increase, what is absolutely inverse, to that observed in Pinus radiata (D.Don). With regard to the other properties, it could settle down that a definitive influence of the handling outlines doesn't exist on them.
