Descripción y manejo de plagas y enfermedades en el arbolado urbano de la comunidad de La Reina.

Abstract

El propósito de esta memoria de título fue elaborar un documento que constituya una fuente de información acerca de plagas y enfermedades que afectan al arbolado urbano de la Comuna de la Reina. Se consideraron los siguientes objetivos específicos: • Describir las plagas y enfermedades que afectan al arbolado urbano de la Comuna de La Reina. • Recomendar el manejo apropiado de las plagas y enfermedades que afectan al arbolado urbano de la Comuna de La Reina. Para desarrollar la memoria se utilizaron antecedentes bibliográficos de distintas fuentes de información, como libros, revistas y páginas web especializados en el tema a tratar, entre otros. Se describieron 30 insectos y 27 enfermedades; los que se agruparon según el principal tipo de daño o parte del árbol afectada, y luego se propuso un manejo para cada grupo. Para las plagas los grupos fueron: • Insectos desfoliadores. • Insectos chupadores de savia. • Insectos que afectan tejidos meristemáticos. • Insectos que afectan la corteza y la madera. • Termites. Para las enfermedades los grupos fueron: • Enfermedades que afectan las hojas. • Enfermedades que afectan al tronco. • Enfermedades que afectan la raíz. La información recopilada constituye un registro de cuales agentes afectan al arbolado urbano y de qué manera se pueden prevenir o curar los eventuales daños. El manejo propuesto va dirigido especialmente a actividades preventivas para que las plagas y enfermedades no se hagan presentes, con énfasis en mantener el arbolado vigoroso y resistente. Sin embargo, se hace necesaria una investigación más exhaustiva sobre los agentes patógenos y los diferentes factores que se involucran; para luego desarrollar y proponer un manejo integrado de problemas fitosanitarios en el arbolado urbano.

This thesis was conducted to elaborate a source document about pest and disease agents affecting the urban trees at the “La Reina” commune in Santiago, Chile. The following specific objectives were considered: • To describe the pests and disease agents affecting to the urban trees at the “La Reina” commune. • To recommend the appropriate management for the pests and diseases that affect the urban trees of the commune. Different sources of information were used to compile bibliographical references, including specialized books, journals and web pages on the topic, among others. 30 insects and 27 disease agents are described, grouped according to the main type of damage or parts of the tree affected, and then a management procedure is proposed for each group. For the pests the groups are: • Insects that feed on leaves. • Insects that feed on sap. • Insects that affect meristematic tissues. • Insects that affect bark and wood. • Termites. For the disease agents the groups are: • Diseases that affect the leaves. • Diseases that affect the trunk . • Diseases that affect the roots. The information gathered constitutes a registry of the agents that affect the urban trees and the ways the eventual damages can be prevented or cure. The management proposed goes mainly to preventive activities so that the plagues and diseases do not become established, with emphasis in maintaining the trees vigorous and resistant. However, a more exhaustive investigation becomes necessary on the pathogenic agents and the different factors involved; to develop and to propose an integrated management of phytosanitary problems on urban trees.
