ZnO nanowireswithhighdensityaregrownoverzincfoilbythermalevaporationprocessatrelatively
low temperature.Electronmicroscopystudiesconfirmedthattheas-grownnanowiresareofsingle
crystalhexagonalwurtzitestructure,growingpreferentiallyinthe c-axisdirection.TheRaman
spectrumoftheZnOnanowiresshowsanoptical-phononE2 modeat440cm 1 confirminggood
crystallinityforthegrownnanowires.ThefieldemissionmeasurementindicatedthatZnOnanowires
have aturn-onfieldof9.1V/mm atcurrentdensityof0.001 mA/cm2.
