Abstractdc.description.abstractThe viral load quantification for Human Immunodeficiency Virus in infected patients has been proved to be a valuable test as a good predictor for infection progression and antiviral treatment response. The reproducibility of a new viral load assay, Nuclisens HIV-1 QTTM, was assesed by comparing different volume plasma samples in 11 HIV positive patients. Each sample was tested at least twice, in the same or different runs. A total of 29 tests were done. The best reproducibility was obtained when using an initial input equal or greater than 500 μl of plasma, with a precision rate of 0.18 and a coefficient of variation of 20%. The intra and inter - assay variation was 0.19 and 0.07, respectively. The good reproducibility found in this study, the easy performance and the wide linear range of quantification makes this assay fully recommended as a routine test for HIV viral load in HIV-1 infected patients.en_US
