Abstract
The article analyzes the essay "The influence of women in the formation of the American soul" by Venezuelan writer Teresa de la Parra from a historical, identitarian, and gender point of view. It is suggested that de la Parra problematizes the representation of colonial history from a femenine and subaltern perspective, developing a narrative that argues against the official history discourse and that place at the center the role of subjects silenced by it. From this exercise, she proposes not only to reread history from a gender perspective, but also to redefine the identity of the continent
