Abstract | dc.description.abstract | A new asterosaponin, named santiagoside (1), has been isolated from the Antarctic starfish Neosmilaster georgianus and, its structure elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic experiments and chemical correlations. Santiagoside is the first asterosaponin possessing a tetrasaccharide sugar chain and a 1,4-disubstituted glucose unit. © 1992. | |
