Clinical pharmacogenomics in South America

© 2011 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc. All rights reserved.In South America, in recent years, some studies have established allelic frequencies of the most relevant pharmacogenes. Several studies in South America have revealed the genetic diversity and miscegenation process generated after colonization during recent centuries. Additionally, relevant clinical studies have been carried out in areas, such as oncology, cardiology and psychiatry. In this chapter we will briefly describe the development of pharmacogenetics in South America with a pharmacotherapeutic approach.
